TYP Spring Production and SUMMER CAMP 2017

For actors, ages 8 to 18

Step into the enchanted world of Broadway's modern classic, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, an international sensation that has played to over 35 million people worldwide in 13 countries. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the original Broadway production ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. Join us this spring and be a part of this magical production!

Dress rehearsals and performances will take place on the professional stage of the Throckmorton Theatre.

Session 1: HONK! JR. A delightful adaptation of the ugly duckling tale JUN 19 - JUL 7
2nd - 5th Graders | 9:00am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday | Tuition: $1200

The 2nd-5th graders will be performing HONK! JR., a heartwarming celebration of being different that sparkles with wit and charm. Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, along the way, meeting a whole flock of unique characters. Ultimately, Ugly finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.
This fun, energetic musical is designed to give a wide range of young performers an opportunity to hit the stage and shine! Campers spend the first part of the day rehearsing and doing show-related crafts. The second part of the day is spent focusing on singing, acting and dance training in small, age-based groups.
The ever popular BBQ and Movie night will be held on Wednesday, June 28! The session culminates in a performance of HONK! JR. on the last day of the session, Friday July 7! Free for friends and family to attend.

6th - 9th Graders | 9:00am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday | Tuition: $800

Some of the most memorable characters in musical theatre will get a chance to shine this summer in our BROADWAY HEROES & VILLAINS camp session! From Ursula the sea witch from The Little Mermaid, to the sinister Javert from Les Miserables in the villains department; from the courageous Belle and the off beat Shrek in the heroes department. Campers and instructors will work together to pick songs from Broadway musicals that are inspired by the theme. Then students will work in small groups, creating scenes to accompany the songs they are performing. Instructors guide the creative process and provide instruction in acting, singing and dance.
The session culminates in an original performance on Friday, July 21 featuring Broadway songs, with scenes written and performed by the young actors! Free for family and friends to attend.
