MEET THE COMEDIANS
Jim Short was born in Australia, moved to Texas where he began his stand-up career and worked for years in San Francisco and now lives in Los Angeles. Jim’s television credits include Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” “The Late Show with David Letterman” “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and NBC’s “Late Friday”. Jim Short has appeared at the Montreal International Comedy Festival in 1998 and 2003 and the 2004 Las Vegas Comedy Festival. Jim is the winner of the 2004 San Francisco International Comedy Competition.
Stuart Thompson is a 27-year-old Los Angeles based stand-up comedy phenom. Getting his start at age 18 in rooms around San Francisco, he relocated to Los Angeles following graduation from college and has been pursuing stand-up ever since. He has written for National Lampoon and most recently for the 2015 CBS Diversity Showcase. He is a graduate of the UCB improv and sketch programs and is a regular host and performer at The Comedy Store and the Hollywood Improv, where he hosts his own live monthly late night talk show called The Late Night Show. Otherwise, he was featured on Robert Rodriguez’s MATADOR on the El Rey Network; placed 3rd in the 2015 San Francisco International Comedy Competition; and regularly opens for Iliza Shlesinger, Steve Rannazzisi, Steve Treviño, and Bobby Lee.
Anna Valenzuela is a Los Angeles based comedian and real woman. Always fond of comedy, she worked for 10 years in the mental healthcare industry before deciding to try stand-up in Long Beach in 2014. After a year of performing in Long Beach and Orange County, she began making moves in Los Angeles, appearing at the Broke L.A. Comedy Festival and as a frequent competitor on Roast Battle at The Comedy Store. Her joyful delivery of biting roast jokes and stories highlighting her troubled childhood has won audiences over time and time again, eventually earning her a spot on the second season of Comedy Central’s Roast Battle-The Regional’s, which premiered in 2017 and on Roast Battle 2- War of the Words, where she made it to the Quarter Finals. Anna can also be seen performing in all over Southern California and heard as the host of the podcast 12 Questions.
Mean Dave is a Californian comedian from the SF Bay Area with a rock and roll style for any occasion or function. Starting with a background in music, Mean Dave was a musician of many years who found he was a comedian the way Happy Gilmore thought he was a hockey player who found himself to be a golfer. With a manic, intelligent approach to material about modern day life, you will be thoroughly entertained with clean-to-adult humor about a variety of subjects. Mean Dave has performed regularly at San Jose Improv, San Francisco Punchline, LA Comedy Store, Tommy T’s in Pleasanton and all kinds of shows and events all over.
Johnny Steele is a veteran comedian, some-time talk show host, writer, humorist, political satirist, acclaimed actor and all-around loud mouth commentator. He’s the former host of several radio and TV shows including The Live 105 Morning Show, THE SHOW on KRON 4/Bay TV, The War On Error Radio Hour on Green 960. Johnny is a past winner of the San Francisco International Comedy Competition and has performed comedy across the US, Canada, and overseas for 30 years. Johnny has been teaching comedy for 15 years and is currently wrapping up his book, 50 Quick Comedy Tips. He has written for corporate CEOs, Grammy winning musicians, and Academy Award winning actors.
